After-School Connect sessions and Wednesday Morning Connects continued as we created outdoor art work for the A Curious Town Grows festival commissioned by Curious Agenda and supported in ongoing funding by Making It Happen Funding through Hastings Voluntary Action.
The A Town Explores A Book festival workshops started with children and families in After-School Connect sessions on Mondays 4.30-5.30pm and with older participants at Wednesday Morning Connect, 10.30 - 1pm, in Roosevelt lounge funded by Making It Happen Funding through Hastings Voluntary Action. The resulting installation, Wisdoms, and mixed media exhibition, Emotional Landscapes, was open for two weeks through the school spring holiday through the festival, located at the northern end of the festival trail.
Early career artists from the ExploreTheArch collective explored the history and the heritage of the area with Four Courts high rise neighbourhood participants supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Making It Happen Funding through Hastings Voluntary Action. Workshops in which memories were gathered and visits to local archives developed knowledge of the history of the Four Courts estate built on the 950th anniversary of the Norman landing of I066. Concerts on harps, high rise instruments, tours of the area and an installation and mixed media community exhibition in November 2023 accompanied an online series of illustrations of residents' stories.
